My favorite thing ever. Really, this is the project that really got me interested in doing larger resin pieces and got me working on electronics. This was sculpted first in plastalina, molded, cast in resin and assembled with leather, metal and the super awesome EL-Wire (seriously addicted to this stuff!). It's light, it's sturdy, it lights up and I really love it.
I have a tutorial up for how to sculpt and cast this on my blog, here: [link]
It was actually detailing my first attempt at this, which came out way too small, but the procedure I used for this one was exactly the same. The next time I make one I'll see about making a tutorial to take it from basic resin cast to fully painted, weathered, lined, lit and mounted.
sweet! thank you so much, it really will be helpful! hey and if i can't make this, hgow would you feel about the tutorial-ed one being a commission for me?
